Terms Of Use
Using this site means accepting these terms. They are short, because a site with no accounts and no payments needs very little from you.
Using The Site
PuzzleType is free to use for personal enjoyment, for teaching, and for playing with other people. No account is required, nothing is charged, and no permission needs to be asked to use a puzzle in a classroom, a club or a family game.
What is not allowed is treating the site as a source to be harvested: automated scraping, bulk downloading, or generating puzzles at scale in order to republish them as your own collection. The supply is unlimited by design, which makes this cheap to do and pointless to permit.
Puzzles And Explanations
Individual puzzles are generated for you when you load a page. Use them freely — print them, share the link, put one on a whiteboard. The site's code, catalogues, explanation text and design are a different matter, and remain the property of PuzzleType.
| Use | Allowed | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Play, alone or with others | Yes | No account, no charge, no limit. |
| Use puzzles in a lesson or club | Yes | No permission needed. A link back is appreciated, not required. |
| Share a puzzle link | Yes | The seed rebuilds the identical puzzle for whoever opens it. |
| Automated scraping or bulk generation | No | Including republishing generated puzzles as a collection. |
| Copying the site's code or design | No | The engines, catalogues and explanation copy are not open licensed. |
No Warranty
The site is provided as it is. There is no promise that it will be available, that it will work in any particular browser, that a puzzle type will still be here next month, or that every generated puzzle is flawless — see the disclaimer for why that last one is stated rather than glossed over.
To the fullest extent the law allows, PuzzleType is not liable for any loss arising from using the site or from relying on anything it produces. Nothing here should be relied on for any decision about anybody's ability.
Local Storage And Your Data
Progress counters live in your browser and nowhere else, so they are not backed up, not transferable between devices and not recoverable if you clear your site data. They may also be reset by a change to the site — this has happened, when four puzzle sets were renamed and their stored best scores did not survive the rename. Treat them as a convenience, not a record. Full detail is in the privacy policy.
Changes To These Terms
These terms may change. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the revised version, and the change date at the foot of this page will tell you when it last moved. Anything you want to raise can go to the contact page.
